Choose Your Friends Wisely

ALLAHSWT tells us in the qur'an that we should not take Christians and Jews as our friends.

O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust.] (Al-Ma’dah 5: 51

So, why come is this? If we think for a moment about what being muslim entails we can easily see why this is. As Muslims our religion is a lifestyle. Our lifestyle is VERY different from others. Yes, they could be a nice person, but still they are not muslim and they do not believe in ALLAH.

If you know salaat is about to come up you don't have that friend that will remind you to pray, or if you have a problem with lowering your gaze your friend can't tell you to stop looking and talking to men. Its small things.

As Muslims, we should surround ourselves around good people who are strong,practicing Muslims.

Oh, it can be hard to find some good Muslims, but nonetheless its important to do so.

Just recently, I have befriended a Muslimah who lives close to me and we eat suhoor together, break for iftar, and are good friends. We both talk about the same thing. As Muslims, its very difficult to have non-Muslim friends and to expect your iman or faith in ALLAHSWT to increase if you're hanging out with someone who do not believe in ALLAH.

Ramadan: SECRET MUSLIMS-GOOD READ FOR EVERYONE!!

Assalamu Alaikum,

I just read a post about a young muslima who have not told her parents about her being muslim. She covers her head sometimes, and not all the time. This is not a story that is new to me, or that I haven't heard, but one that I cry at.

We are Muslims. We are not kaffrs. We are the chosen people. We were giving the qur'an-THE TRUTH. When we testify to the shahada we are muslims. Our lives change. Our lifestyle change. Our clothing change(muslimahs). Our friends change. Who we are change. Its not good enough to recite the shahada and call it quits. No, its deeper.

ALLAHSWT tells us in the qur'an that we will be tested with everything dear to us(family, wealth, job, and children,etc). He continues to say, "Do you think you will not be tested like the people before you?". Subhan'ALLAH. As Muslims, we are tested everyday of our lives. Do you think this life is about happiness and bliss? No. We are tested to prove our love to ALLAH. WE are tested to gain the pleasure of ALLAH.

Sisters, you put your hijab on and cover yo naked body. Brothers, wear your beard and do not cut it for it is fard and not sunnah. The ProphetSAW tells the brothers to, "trim the mustache and keep the beard (bukhari)". This is a command from ALLAHSWT! Brothers, keep those beards.

We have to stand firm upon this deen of ALLAHSWT. The qur'an tells us that this dunya(this world) is nothing but amusement and play. ALLAHSWT warns us of this. He tells us this in clear english for the english speaking people. Why do you not take heed?

I am a convert myself and know the struggle. Wallahi, I do, but you must not give up because you are a Muslim. Stand strong and practice the deen as ALLAHSWT commanded of you.

Hold firm to the rope of ALLAH? DO you take your parents dearer than ALLAH? Do you take your wealth dearer than ALLAH? Do you take that job dearer to ALLAH? Fear him, but hold close to him!

Tarawih Prayers are best for MEN at the Mosque

Assalamu Alaikum,

Many sisters are quick to run to the mesjid for Tarawih prayers, but indeed tarawih prayers, and just like any other prayer should be prayed at her home. The woman gets more blessings for staying at her home.

AllahSWT tells us in the interpretation of the meaning:

"Stay in your houses and do not display your finery like the displaying of the ignorance of yore."
[The Quran 33:33

Sunnah:
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A man's Salat in congregation is twenty-five times more rewarding than his Salat at home or in his shop, and that is because when he performs his Wudu' properly and proceeds towards the mosque with the purpose of performing Salat in congregation, he does not take a step without being raised a degree (in rank) for it and having a sin remitted for it, till he enters the mosque. When he is performing Salat, the angels continue to invoke Blessings of Allah on him as long as he is in his place of worship in a state of Wudu'. They say: `O Allah! Have mercy on him! O Allah! Forgive him.' He is deemed to be engaged in Salat as long as he waits for it.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Men are given more blessings for praying together. Not the women. I had a friend ask me if I would like to attend her mesjid and pray tarawih with her, and I told her that I pray tarawih at home. She began to tell me its better for a muslimah to pray in congregation with other muslimahs.

SO, is it better for women to pray in the mesjid or at her home?

Sunnah from Rasullulah:

Prophet SAWS (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon Him) said:
"Do not prevent your women from going to the mosque, even though their houses are better for them." (Abu Dawud)

Umm Humayd came to the Prophet SAWS (Peace & Blessings of Allah be upon Him) and said: "O Messenger of Allaah, I love to pray with you." He said: "I know that you love to pray with me, but praying in your house is better for you than praying in your courtyard, and praying in your courtyard is better for you than praying in the mosque of your people, and praying in the mosque of your people is better for you than praying in my mosque." So she ordered that a prayer-place be built for her in the furthest and darkest part of her house, and she always prayed there until she met Allaah (i.e., until she died). (Ahmad)

Insha'ALLAH, I hope you understand that as women our homes should be places in which we make our prayers. We should clean our rooms and make it special for when that time of the day comes for our salaats.

Pregnant Women Must FAST

Salam and Ramadan Mubarak to all,

Many pregnant women believe they do not fast. This is incorrect according to Qur'an and Sunnah. The only time a pregnant woman cannot fast is when a doctor says she can't because of a life and death situation, but otherwise you fast. You do not stop worshiping ALLAH because you're pregnant. Fear ALLAH women, fear ALLAH.

Abu Dawood (2318) narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas said, concerning the verse “And
as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a
choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskeen (poor person) (for every day)”
[al-Baqarah 2:184]: This is a concession granted to old men and old women who
are able to fast, allowing them to break the fast and to feed one poor person
each day instead of fasting. (And this concession is also granted to) pregnant
and breastfeeding women, if they fear (harm). Al-Nawawi said: Its isnaad is
hasan.

Al-Shaafa’i narrated in al-Umm: Maalik told us, narrating from Naafi’, that
Ibn ‘Umar was asked about a pregnant woman, if she fears for her child. He
said: She should not fast, and she should feed one poor person for each day,
giving a mudd of wheat.

Alhumdulilah, this is the evidence provided for women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant,insha'ALLAH.

There are new Muslimas coming into Islam everyday, so what is your advice to them,insha'ALLAH?

What would you say to Muslimas having problems with putting on covering clothes and hijab/and or niqab?

Help inspire your fellow sister in Islam!

As a convert myself, I believe that sisters need to be strong and stand up for Islam. The Qur'an tells us that we will be tested and that saying the shahada do not make us believers but only Muslims.

Pull it together new shahadas and hold onto the rope of ISLAM. Let Islam be your hope, your life, and your EVERYTHING...

Show your LORD that you are deserving of YOUR LORD.

Assalamu Alaikum sisters,

If there any sisters that have niqab or hijab stories,then insha'ALLAH come and share them with other sisters? I highly encourage all the sisters to wear hijab because its a commandment from ALLAHSWT and you do not know when he will take your life. Niqab is not fard, or a must from ALLAHSWT, but you can wear it because as women we have this option.

I know many Muslimas, especially the Muslimas in America want to fit in, and wear the same things as Non-Muslim american girls. As Muslims, we should stand out. What will happen when we wear the same things, and act the same way as others? We will not be "strange" to them anymore. As lives should be different than from our previous lives of the jahiliya(pre-Islam). As Muslimas, we should not be shaving/plucking our eyebrows, talk to non-mahram men, go to mix parties, being out in the streets, wearing tight clothes outside, and etc. These things are from the Jahiliya. Many of us have probaby been told we were strange because of our choice of clothes, and what we do. This is something you should feel good about because Muslims are different. Islam is our way of life. Islam encompasses ALL aspects of our lives.

Islam is our way of life that shouldn't be measured by the Kufr's way of life. When looking at the state of affairs concerning our ummah, we can see that the some Muslimas are not covering themselves, but if they are they are wearing their scarves with tight clothing. Men are not wearing their fard beards, but shaving them off. Some Muslims are celebrating Easter, Christmas, and other kufr's holidays. As new Muslims and born-Muslims it is very important to remember that Islam have NOTHING to do with Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and etc. Islam is not based off of anything but the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Chapter 180
The Excellence of Reciting the Qur'an

991. Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.''
[Muslim].

992. An-Nawwas bin Sam`an (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "The Qur'an and its people who applied it, will be brought on the Day of Resurrection preceded with Surat Al-Baqarah and Surat Al-`Imran arguing on behalf of those who applied them.''
[Muslim].

993. `Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.''
[Al-Bukhari].

994. `Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur'an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

996. `Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and abases others.''
[Muslim].

999. Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.''
[At-Tirmidhi

1000. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who does not memorize any part from the Qur'an he is like the ruined house.''
[At-Tirmidhi].

1001. `Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The one who was devoted to the the Qur'an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.'''
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Conclusion:

According to the Hadiths explained above, the Qur’an is a beautiful way to earn extra deeds for our Book of Deeds. The way to earning deeds described above is simply by reciting the Qur’an and by teaching the Qur’an to others,insha’ALLAH. Also, its not enough to simply memorize the Qur’an, but to ponder and act upon what is being recited or read. If the Qur’an is hard for you to recite, then alhumdulilah you get double the reward. The recitation of the Qur’an is a beautiful thing for people to learn to do. I do not speak Arabic, but I listen to the recitation of it, or try reading it in Arabic.

Chapter166: Setting off on Thursdays

956. Ka`b bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) set out on Thursday for the expedition of Tabuk. He liked to set out on a journey on Thursdays.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

957. Sakhr bin Wada`ah Al-Ghamidi (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "O Allah! Bless my people in the early part of the day (morning). Whenever he dispatched a detachment or an army-unit, he would dispatch it at the beginning of the day (soon after dawn). The narrator, Sakhr (May Allah be pleased with him) was a merchant, and he used to send off his merchandise at the beginning of the day. So his trade flourished and he made a good fortune.
[At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].

In this chapter of hadeeth, we see that the ProphetSAW went on his journeys on Thursdays, and he would leave early after fajr when ALLAHSWT gives the travelers blessings.

Chapter 167
The Desirability of undertaking a Journey in a Group and appointing a Leader

958. Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Were people to know of what I know about the dangers of travelling alone, no rider would travel alone at night.''
[Al-Bukhari].

959. `Amr bin Shu`aib (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "A single rider is (accompanied with) Satan and two riders are (accompanied with) two Satans. Three riders form a group.''
[At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].

960. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "When three persons set out on a journey, they should appoint one of them as their leader.''
[Abu Dawud].

961. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best number of companions is four; the best detachment is four hundred and the best army is four thousand; and twelve thousand men will not be defeated as a result of smallness of number.''
[At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].

In this chapter of Riyad-us Saliheen, The ProphetSAW gives clear instructions of what should occur after setting out onto an expedition or journey. The ProphetSAW tells us that 3 people makes a group while 4 is the best number. He also instructs a group of people to choose a leader in order to maintain organization and stability while on the trip.

Chapter 179
Prohibiting Woman from Traveling Alone

989. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to make a journey of one day and night unless she is accompanied by a Mahram (husband or any other relative to whom she is prohibited to marry).''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

990. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "No man must not be alone with a woman except in the presence of her (Mahram). No woman should travel except in company of a (Mahram).'' A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have been enrolled for such and such expedition, and my wife left for Hajj.'' He (PBUH) said to him, "Go and perform Hajj with your wife.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Conclusion: The first two chapters discusses the etiquette of traveling in regards to appointing a leader and on what day we should travel on. The last chapter is especially important for the sisters because as women we cannot travel alone except with a mahram.

Daleel: Divorce is Lawful and Clean

The following hadith about divorce is not authentic. In fact it is a lie:

Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not issue divorce, for the Throne shakes because of divorce.” Narrated by Ibn ‘Adiyy in al-Kaamil (5/112) and by al-Khateeb in Tareekh Baghdaad (12/191), and via Ibn al-Jawzi in al-Mawdoo’aat (2/277), via ‘Amr ibn Jumay’ from Juwaybir from al-Dahhaak from al-Nazzaal ibn Sabrah from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib (may Allaah be pleased with him).

Ibn al-Jawzi said:

It is a mawdoo’ (fabricated) hadeeth… ‘Amr ibn Jumay’ used to narrate munkar ahaadeeth from prominent people, and mawdoo’ ahaadeeth from sound narrators.

He was as da’eef (weak) and a fabricator by many scholars, including the following:

Al-Khateeb al-Baghdaadi in Tareekh Baghdaad (12/187), Ibn al-Qaysaraani in Dhakheerat al-Huffaaz (2/1147), al-Sakhaawi in al-Maqaasid al-Hasanah (p. 31), al-Shawkaani in al-Fawaa’id al-Majmoo’ah (p. 139), al-San’aani and al-‘Ajlooni in Kashf al-Khafa’ (1/361), and al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Da’eefah (1/278, hadeeth no. 147).

Allah does not hate anything that he made lawful. He only hates that which he made unlawful and the true believer would never make unlawful that which Allah made lawful:

'Those who believe do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you, and do not transgress. Allah does not like trangressers" - Muslim

Also Everything lawful is good and clean whereas whatever is unlawful is bad and dirty:

"Apart from what is lawful and good, all other things are unlawful and not good (unclean Al-Khabith)" - Muslim

Whoever tells you that a woman can not seek divorce (Khula) in islam is a liar and needs to fear allah.

What islam forbids is seeking a divorce for no reason. If you have a reason then it is lawful.

Proof of this is found in the sunnah when the ex wife of Rifa'a Al-Qurazi was granted Khula from her husband by the prophet (sa) - Bukhari

Allah is merciful and would never put us in a situation of no way out. Be careful of people who speak about this religion without knowledge and are ignorant enough to challenge those who do have knowledge.

Daleel: Staying at Home is Better for WOMEN

It is better for women to pray in their houses than to attend congregational prayers. However, they may go to the mosque and attend the congregational prayer if they avoid wearing perfume.

Ibn 'Umar reports that the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said:

"Do not prevent the women from going to the mosques, although their houses are better for them."

Abu Hurairah relates that the Prophet said:

"Do not keep the slave girls of Allah from the mosques of Allah. And they are to go out unperfumed."

These two ahadith were related by Ahmad and Abu Dawud.

Abu Hurairah also reports that the Prophet said:

"Any woman who uses some scent should not be present with us during the night prayer."

This is related by Muslim, Abu Dawud, and an-Nasa'i with a hasan chain.

As stated earlier, it is better for women to pray in their houses.

Ahmad and at-Tabarani record that Umm Humaid as-Sa'diyah came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love to pray with you." The Prophet said: "I am aware of that, but your salah in your residence is better for you than your salah in your people's mosque.

Daleel: Christians and Jews WILL NOT go to Heaven

Assalamu Alaikum,

Many Muslims believe that the Christians and jews will be going to heaven, and this is an incorrect against ALLAH and his messenger.

“Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in
worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills” -
Quran 4:48

"If anyone desires a religion other than islam (submission to Allah., never will
it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who
have lost (All spiritual good)." - Quran 3:85

"O ye who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and die not except in a
state of islam." - Quran 3:102

"Verily, those who disbelieve (in the religion of Islam, the Qur’aan and
Prophet Muhammad) from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)
and Al-Mushrikoon will abide in the fire of Hell. They are the worst of
creatures” - Quran 98:6

"When the wrong-doers (actually) see the Penalty, then will it in no way be
mitigated, nor will they then receive respite." - Quran 16:85

"Say: "On the Day of Decision, no profit will it be to Unbelievers if they
(then) believe! nor will they be granted a respite." - Quran 32:29

Also the Prophet(sa) said:

"By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is no-one of this
ummah, Jew or Christian, who hears of me then dies without believing in that
with which I have been sent, but he will be one of the people of Hell."

Assalamu Alaikum,

Ramadan is coming up in a month or so-give or take,insha'ALLAH!! Sisters, for those who have to make up their fasts from last Ramadan, get those done for ALLAH,insha'ALLAH. We are preparing for another full month of Ramadan. Get together a plan,insha'ALLAH for you, yourselves, and your familiies.

Its an important time of the year for Muslims. This is our holy month. Insha'ALLAH, I will prepare for this special month by getting some good sweet treats for when I break my fast.

This is a very moving and powerful video to remind us about Ramadan, and how our lives should be everyday as Muslims.

As Muslims, our lives should not be devoted to ALLAH only during Ramadan, but everyday.

Daleel: Earrings are NOT adornments and ARE HALAL

Assalamu Alaikum sisters,

Many sisters will try to tell you that you cannot wear earrings or your jewelry outside of the home. When someone says something they must back it up with the Qur'an or the Sunnah, and if they cannot then they are lying on ALLAH.

Here is the daleel that we can wear earrings outside of the home:

Ibn 'Abbas said, Allah's Apostle went out and offered the Id prayer and then delivered the sermon. "Then the Prophet went to the women and instructed them and gave them religious advice and ordered them to give alms and I saw them reaching out (their hands to) their ears and necks (to take off the earrings and necklaces, etc.) and throwing (it) towards Bilal. Then the Prophet returned with Bilal to his house . - Bukhari

Also when Allah says in the Quran for women to not show off their adornment this does not apply to jewelry or the face and this is the view of the majority of the companions and none understood islam better than they:

Ibn Abbas (ra) is one of the most learned men of the Sahaba (Companions). Prophet Muhammad (s) even prayed for him saying

"O Allah, make him acquire a deep understanding of the religion of Islam and instruct him in the meaning and interpretation of things." - Muslim

Ibn Abbas with reference to Surah An-Nur:

"And Say to the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna" (Surah An-Nur, Verses 30 and 31)

defined the phrase, “except only that which is apparent” as referring to the "The hand, the ring, and the face."

Also Abdullah Ibn Omar Ibn Al-Khattab (ra) said that this verse refers to the exception of “the face and the two hands”.

Anas Ibn Malik (ra) also said that the exception refers to “the hand and the ring”.

The hand face and ring is also the view of Ali and Aisha the wife of the Prophet (sa).

Ibn Hazm said: “all of this (statements) are in the highest of accuracy.

Walaa and Baraa: Love and Hate for the sake of ALLAH

Assalamu Alaikum,

Love is an aspect of Islam

Hate is an aspect of Islam. We must hate for the sake of ALLAH. What do I mean? You must hate what ALLAHSWT has forbid.

La Ilaha Illallah negates the fact that you believe there is no God,but ALLAH and only ALLAHSWT can give you good and evil.

And [know that] if God should touch thee with misfortune, there is none who could remove it save Him; and if He intends good for thee, there is none who could turn away His bounty: He causes it to alight upon whomsoever He wills of His servants. And He alone is truly forgiving, truly a dispenser of grace (10:107)

ISLAM IS THE ONLY WAY OF LIFE and there WILL NOT be ANY CHRISTIANS, JEWS, HINDUS, ATHIESTS in Heaven according to the interpretation of the meaning:

"Whoever seeks after a Religion other than Islaam, never will it be accepted from him, and in the Hereafer he will be one of the loosers." [Soorah Aal-'Imraan 3:85

We must not use a FATWA that goes against ALLAH's commands. For example: Many women try looking for a fatwa that allows them to pluck or shave their eyebrows. We must not take our husbands, kid, jobs, and wealth as being our god!

"And of mankind there are those who take others besidesAllaah as rivals to Allaah. They love them as they should love Allaah." [Soorah al-Baqarah 2:165

Allah tells us in the Qur'an that we should not be friends with the disbelievers:

“O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and Christians for friends. They are Awliyaa(friends) to each other. And the one among you that turns to them is one of them. Indeed, Allah guides not an unjust people.” (5:51)

AllahSWT continues to tell us that WE MUST HATE the kuffar for his sake:

“You will not find any people that believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and his Messenger (s.a.w.), even though they were their fathers, sons, brothers, or relatives….” (58:22)

Finally, its important that we love our fellow sisters and brothers in Islam:

“The Believers, men and women, are protectors, one of another,” (9:71

When one takes the shahada, La Illaha IllALLAH, then one negates that there is another god, and we affirm that there is NO GOD, BUT ALLAH and that we believe that MuhammadSAW is the last Prophet of God.

Become Strong Sisters and Form a Sisterhood

Assalamu Alaikum sisters,

Its very important that we become stronger in iman, or our faith in ALLAH. We must learn true Tawheed, or the belief in the oneness of ALLAH and about the Sunnah. As Muslimas, we must build ourselves up and build up the sisters we have around us. There is a huge percentage of Muslims that have fallen from the Qur'an and Sunnah, and its about time we change that.

Grab a hold of your other sisters, and become strong in this deen of ALLAH!

Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning:

”The men and women from among the believers are friends of each other. They call the people towards goodness and piety and abstain from evil and transgression. They uphold the prayer, pay the poor-rate (zakaat) and obey Allah and His Prophet (s.a.w.s.). Indeed, these are the ones for whom Allah shall soon manifest His mercy and grace. Verily Allah is all-powerful, and the most wise.”
(Ale Imran : 71)

Subhan'ALLAH sisters! Subhan'ALLAH! We should form our sister hoods in every neighborhood and mesjid. We must guide our daughters, mothers, aunts, cousins, and etc into this sisterhood of AL-Islam.

Do not lose your sister to this dunya. Pull her up with you! Help her as you help yourself! Always keep you and your sister in the remembrance of ALLAH!

Insha'ALLAH, I want every sister to know that this dunya, or this world is nothing compared to the hereafter. WE must prepare for our last day, last hour, and last breath. Subhan'ALLAH, allow yourself to see your sisters!!

Stop Posting Up Personal Information

I haven't posted in a while, but alhumdulilah, I am back.

Sisters, you have to stop posting up personal information on the internet. Posting up your personal information is none of anyone else's business. This does not just apply to blogging sites, but Facebook, Myspace, Xanga, Twitter, or etc. This is not the way of the ProphetSAW or his companions. The bottomline is that no one wants to know,and this only allows people to be all up in your business. For example: If you go telling your girl-friends about you and your husband love life then that sister may get jealous, and may begin wanting your husband, so the next time you come home you see her in your living room as being his other wife. This is very true. Many sisters forget how harmful it is to post up their personal information. Not only this, but sisters we shouldn't be posting up our pictures on the internet without covering ourselves and without hijab. What is this? Many sisters on the internet are taking off their hijabs and clothes. Why are we naked? Subhan'ALLAH, fear ALLAH!

Women's Place in Islam

Assalamu Alaikum wa warahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

A sister requested a topic discussing a woman's place in Islam.

Ibn 'Umar reports that the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said: "Do not prevent the women from going to the mosques, although their houses are better for them.

Ahmad and at-Tabarani record that Umm Humaid as-Sa'diyah came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love to pray with you." The Prophet said: "I am aware of that, but your salah in your residence is better for you than your salah in your people's mosque.

Women are advised in the quran as stated:

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allaah and to their husbands), and guard in the husbands absence what Allaah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity and their husbands property). As to those women on whose part you see ill‑conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allaah is Ever Most High, Most Great [al-Nisa 4:34]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone other than Allaah, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands. [Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1853; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah]

Makeup is HALAL and NOT HARAAM

Kohl, or eyeliner is not forbidden for women to wear in Islam. There is not a hadith that forbids a woman from wearing kohl.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

Wear your white garments, for they are among your best garments, and shroud your dead in them. Among the best types of collyrium you use is antimony (Khol) it clears the vision and makes the hair sprout. [Dauod]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

"Apply antimony, for it clears the sight and makes the hair grow." And he asserted that the Prophet had a collyrium-case from which he applied collyrium every night in three times each eye.

Taking Your Husband's Last Name

Many women follow the way of many women from different cultures and faiths and take the name of their husbands which is incorrect.

Allah says in the interpretation of the meaning:

"Call them by (the names of) their fathers: that is juster in the sight of Allah. But if ye know not their father's (names, call them) your Brothers in faith, or your maulas. But there is no blame on you if ye make a mistake therein: (what counts is) the intention of your hearts: and Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful." - Quran 33:5

"Prophet (saw) said, "One who claims that someone is his father and knows that it is not true will be forbidden of paradise" (Sahih al-Jami )

The Blessings of Staying at Home

know alot of sisters like to visit the mesjid frequently, but you do not gain as many blessings as you would if you were at your home.

Ibn 'Umar reports that the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said:

"Do not prevent the women from going to the mosques, although their houses are better for them."

Abu Hurairah relates that the Prophet said:

"Do not keep the slave girls of Allah from the mosques of Allah. And they are to go out unperfumed."

These two ahadith were related by Ahmad and Abu Dawud.

Abu Hurairah also reports that the Prophet said:

"Any woman who uses some scent should not be present with us during the night prayer."

This is related by Muslim, Abu Dawud, and an-Nasa'i with a hasan chain.

As stated earlier, it is better for women to pray in their houses.

Ahmad and at-Tabarani record that Umm Humaid as-Sa'diyah came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I love to pray with you." The Prophet said: "I am aware of that, but your salah in your residence is better for you than your salah in your people's mosque.

Are You Chasing The Dunya, the world?

Assalamu Alaikum,

This is a story I read a while ago about an old man who saw a fully-veiled woman in black. This woman would show up here and there and this man would chase her. When the time for salaat came, he would miss it because he would chase after this fully veiled woman. This woman caught his eye and he couldn't keep from her. So eventually he would follow her back to her home. When he arrived the sound for prayer came again, but he didn't listen to its call. The woman unveiled herself and she was old and creepy. This woman said, "Well, I'm here for you. You've been chasing me for so long. You have missed prayer for me. I'm the Dunya".

The moral of this story is simple: Don't follow blindly and this world is only an illusion. Do your duties as an individual now, and don't be foolish enough to believe that this world has anything good enough to give to you. This dunya is only an illusion for its lovers.

Like the phrase goes, "The dunya is paradise for the unbelievers and hell for the believers."
Fitna can be easily as being trouble, or strife. The dunya, or the world can be considered fitna. Fitna is apparent inside of the dunya. The dunya itself isn't a problem because many individuals are able to live within it without any problem, but the problem is how to understand how to live within it. Living for the dunya and living in the dunya are two separate things.
Living in the dunya is simply categorized as living within it for living purposes or etc.
Living for the dunya can be categorized as loving the dunya because of its luxuries, its wealth, its lusts, its pleasures, and etc.

Wearing Jewelry and Makeup is NOT haraam!

A sister yesterday told the Islamic class I attended that her husband or father-in-law believes that wearing earrings is haraam for women in public because its beautification.

Many sisters also believe that wearing makeup is haraam outside the house.

I have hadiths that will ease the pain of women feeling as if these two items are in the haraam.

When the Prophet(sa) had revealed to the people that when making hajj, if one has not brought the sacrificial animals with them, they should put off ihram and treat the hajj as an umrah, Ali came from the Yemen with the sacrificial animals for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and found Fatimah (Allah be pleased with her) to be one among those who had put off Ihram and had put on dyed clothes and had applied antimony. He (Ali) showed disapproval to it, whereupon she said: My father has commanded me to do this. [Muslim]

Do Not Listen To People's Personal Fatwas

Assalamu Alaikum wa Warahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

There are many sisters that I know that have listened to many people's opinions on what is halal and what is haraam.

ALLAHSWT is the only one that can make things halal or haraam.

A sister told me that her brother told her that wearing jeans is haraam. Also, she told me that women aren't supposed to wear jeans because they are clothes of the opposite sex and that it attracts attention.

Subhan'ALLAH, there is nothing in the Qur'an or Sunnah that forbids a woman from wearing jeans. When wearing jeans it is IMPORTANT that the jeans do not show your body and that they are big and baggy IF worn OUTSIDE of the house, insha'ALLAH.

Please, understand that we should not listen to what everyone tells us. This is very important. Many people come and give others fatwas, or religious opinions when we should be going to Qur'an and Authentic Sunnah when getting our information. I really want everyone to understand that our religion is not hard.

Many people do not believe that the beard is fard, but it is. The hadeeth of Ibn 'Umar who said that the Messenger of ALLAH(peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be different from the mushrikeen: Let your beards grow and trim your moustaches". This is an authentic hadeeth that tells men that their beards are fard, and that by shaving it off is a sin.

Its very important that when we listen to people that we get the daleel, or evident from them. It is also important that what they tell us is accurate and correct.

I personally like my all black because its sleek and classy, but sometimes color doesn't hurt. I love color. EID IS THE TIME WHEN COLOR is like the ULTIMATE sleekness. I love seeing the sisters dressing up in all of their clothes that are dressy and fancy. Masha'ALLAH.

The True Believer and their Belief in ALLAHSWT

Its been a long time since I have been on here, but insha'ALLAH, I will begin doing things a little more differently.

As Muslims, the saying of, "There is no god, but ALLAH and Muhammad is the messenger and Prophet" is simple, but what does it really mean?

When we take shahada, we must learn how to OBEY Allah and His Messenger. The truth is...this takes SUBMISSION.

Sometimes Muslims-BORN OR CONVERT do not understand this. This means that EVERYTHING that layed out in HIS book and the Sunnah must be obeyed.

Sometimes we want to question why some things are, but this is not our concerns.

The Qur'an tells us that the believer must not question what AllahSWT has decreed for him. Listen to that!

Sometimes, we are so focused on understanding, but ALLAH is Most-KNOWLEDGABLE. He is not like me and you.

We question why we can't listen to music, or why we can't date or etc. This is none of our concern as in why we can't do this or that.....

I am learning this as I progress further in Islam. I'm great at asking questions, but what about listening to the answer and taking it for what it is.

Sure, we all can go to different classes at the mesjid, but do we implement and take those lessons and use them?

Sometimes we believe that simply wearing hijab or a beard is it, but it isn't?

Our faith in ALLAHSWT goes much further. Its more than praying and fasting. Its much deeper, and insha'ALLAH, I hope many of you can understand this.

What does it mean to be Muslim? What does it mean to understand our Lord? What does it mean to love Allah and his messenger?

The True Believer is one who lays asides his doubts and concerns and have FAITH in ALLAH. The True believer is patient,and dependent ONLY on Allah.

HOT TOPIC: Polygamy in ISLAM: WHAT TO DO?

Many times, I would read or I would hear stories from sisters about their husbands and their wanting of another wife. Islam allows a man to take up to 4 wives. This is his right that AllahSWT have given to him. Many sisters have told me that they were in polygamous marriages before. I have read true stories also about this topic.

Many sisters find out that their husbands are engaged or married to another woman. My advice is to deal with it, or to divorce the brother. This is apart of submitting in Islam. We must understand that Islam is the only way of life that we must follow.

Shari'ah, or the Law of AllahSWT is what we follow. Marriage is a serious issue in Islam. I also have heard great stories about sisters in a polygamous marriage. I know a sister told me recently that she is in a polygamous marriage. She doesn't have a problem with this. Masha'ALLAh. Its part of Islam.

The Process of Being Muslim

Islam came as a reminder for us. This religion is clear in what we should and shouldn't do.
We must make ourselves alert of what being Muslim means.

As a Muslim, we must separate ourselves from things that are not of ISLAM.
We must sacrifice to gain the pleasure of ALLAHSWT.

Also, we must have a list of characteristics that separates ourselves from others.

Being Muslim takes time. We must learn about ALLAHSWT and about our dear ProphetSAW.
We must strengthen our faith each year. We must renew our faith.

Being Muslim means loving ourselves, believing in the oneness of ALLAH, following the SUNNAH.

On Facebook, I created a group that discuss various topics for sisters.

Marriage is a HOT TOPIC.

Many sisters speak on many problems that they may have:

1. Not receiving their rights from husbands
2. Being abused
3. Husband isn't taking care of them and their family
4. Husband isn't wanting to practice Islam
5. and etc.

We must learn our deen so we can know what marriages look like.
Its important that we know our partners before marrying them.

Islam have laid out some conditions in protecting these sort of situations.

"Prophet's Muhammad Birthday" PROBLEM

I'm sorry, but this has to be discussed.

The Prophet MuhammadSAW did not celebrate his birthdays. I'm sorry, its true. None of the Qur'an or Sunnah speaks about this.

Its good that we do not go along with this because we then turn into the Christians. We begin celebrating Isa(alayhim salaams)birth, known as Christmas to the Christians.

Then we may fall into shirk.

Some deviant groups go off and have festivals for the Prophet'S bday and all of that.
If you want to learn more about the ProphetSAW then, insha'ALLAH, then do so.

There is nothing wrong with learning more about him. Alhumdulilah.

We just do not celebrate his bday. Its not Islamic, nor is it part of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Sister,

I do not know how to perform a janazah fully. I know that only individuals of the same sex may carry a Muslim body to the burial. We wrap the body in white or if they took hajj then they are wrapped in their hajj clothing. If a muslim died in war then we leave them in their clothing. We do not have tombstones or put flowers on the grave of the dead. This is all I really know about janazah. I just recieved an email from Essenceofblack.com talking about a sister not knowing about janazah and her loved one didn't have a muslim funeral. This website have janazah kits. I will have to tell my family soon that I need a janazah kit. We do not get buried in a Christian/Jewish funeral graveyard.

Please, tell me more sister. I'm not sure about everything. Very good comment sis. Very good. This knowledge would be considered fard.

Moment of Silence: Janazah!

Assalamu Alaikum,

Today, I saw a long line for a funeral procession. Subhan'ALLAH.
It really made me think alot.
Our dear Prophet Muhammad SAW said it was good for us to visit graves so it will remind us of the afterlife.

Insha'ALLAH, I hope everyone will just stop to think about their lives and understand that our lives are so short.

I really can't stress that enough.

I know we are all very busy people and we have lives, but its true that we should just take things slowly and think about our lives more.

I've never been to a Muslim funeral(Janazah), but I can tell you that its a sad thing or a beautiful thing depending on the person, but WALLAHI we truly can't judge a person because we aren't AllahSWT and we do not know their personal lives.

Its best to just make du'a and pray for ourselves.

One day we will be pulling out a janazah kit and using it for a loved one or someone will be pulling it out for us, insha'ALLAH.

Its a scary thing, but its the truth.

We don't think about things like this alot, but its something we must prepare for, insha'ALLAH.

A Morning Special: Something New: Qur'an on the Mind

Assalamu Alaikum,

I haven't heard the recitation of the Qur'an in a long time. I only hear it in my salaats, but subhan'ALLAH, I don't hear it besides that. I had a Qur'an on a cd-only a quarter of it, but insha'ALLAH, I will buy some cds. I love listening to it. It do touch my heart. It puts such a spark in my day and I feel so much better.

This is an all time favorite of mines. This is a child recitor of qur'an. Hope you Enjoy.

I really do wish to one day travel to a country that have qur'an being recited from radios, qur'ans being sold in bazaars, athans being heard when you're sleeping, assalamu alaikum every place you go, and etc.

That will be something very special for me to see, insha'ALLAH...I will travel to a Muslim or Islamic Country. I'm not sure which one yet. I may take my family with me. I know I have to take a mahram,insha'ALLAH!

What Does It Mean To Be A Muslima?

I must say that being a Muslima is something special. Many people don't know this, but it is.

When I hear people talk about "feminism" its something I don't really need to worry about. I took a women's studies course last semester and it opened my eyes to women globally. Thats why part of my blog is called "feminist muslima". Its like a contradiction. We, as Muslimas, have had rights granted to us before any WESTERN CIVILIZATION...alhumdulilah.

An Islamic teacher told me that we, as Muslimas, do not need feminism because Islam already liberated us. This is so true.

Alright, as a Muslima, we have the hijab or niqab. Hijab and niqab is something that allows a woman's beauty to be kept sacred and to herself. Its something that allows a woman to keep what is hers to herself. I don't need to look like a magazine models or women on ads.

I am a Muslima. I am a Muslima. I am a Muslim Woman that is happy to be of Islam.

Islam liberated me. Islam freed me. Islam showed me the Truth in being female.

A woman in Islam is a queen. She truly is. She do not have to work. She is an individual with rights. She is her own.

POST OF THE NIGHT: BE STRONG IN HIJAB

I noticed some new faces on this blogging site of mine, and that is something I welcome...masha'ALLAH.

Alright, I know many sisters are having a serious problem with keeping on hijab, or niqab and trying to please the people around them.

This is a topic that I believe is pretty personal and very personal to others also.

There are sisters I know that do not wear hijab because they are scared, don't feel like they are ready, mother don't wear it, or because they don't know about it.

This gives no reason for why a sister doesn't put hijab on. Hijab is an obligation, so put it on.

Insha'ALLAh, I wish the best for these sisters, but moving on.

The sisters who have decided to put on hijab should understand that its not going to be easy, nor simple.

We have to face this jihad that ALLAHSWT have put upon us. There was a sheikh that sent out a fatwa to sisters a way back with the September 11th tragedy, and he said that it was okay if sisters took off their hijabs out of security. Subhan'ALLAH.

I know a sister personally who do not wear hijab anymore, but did. She wants to soon, insha'ALLAh.

I wake up everyday around Non-Muslims or even Muslims who do not like the wearing of hijab, but its alright because its something I wear for the Lord. Alhumdulilah!!

You have to. You can't put people first. You can't.

You wear your islamic clothing: Your skirts, baggy jeans, jilbabs, abayas, dishdashes, or etc and you wear it everyday.

Its no one elses business why you wear it. You can tell them, but they don't tell you why they wear that they wear.

It should be an obligation upon us Muslimas to tell people why we wear what we wear. If they ask it then insha'ALLAH, its our choice to answer.

Insha'ALLAh, we wish everyone well.

Sometimes I get crazy comments from people such as:

1 "Why do you wear crazy clothing(abayas)?"
2 "Why don't you wear jeans" I do, but not often...i'm always wrapped up
3 "Why do you wear that on your head"
4 " Do you get hot"
5 "Are you forced to wear that"
6 " What happen if you take it off"

Its something we hijaabis and niqaabis may get. Its alright because we feel good in what we wear. We're covered and alhumdulilah, there is nothing wrong with that.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Last night was the Superbowl for the USA. The superbowl is a huge time for two great teams to go against each other in Football.

Also, while this is occuring...I had a Superbowl party. Actually, my mom had a superbowl party.

My birthday was yesterday also. I don't celebrate my bday because I know that it isn't of ISLAM. My parents know this and its not a big deal to me. I haven't celebrated my bday in a long time. Its been a long time. Becfore I came into islam I hadn't celebrated it because it was something younger kids would do.

Insha'ALLAH, I hoped that nothing would come up. My aunt bought cupcakes for my bday and everyone sang to me. Insha'ALLAH, It was something I didn't like, but I enjoyed the fact that everyone was happy for me. It was something that was profitable also. I recieved cash. Insha'ALLAh, its something nice.

Its hard when your family is into doing things a certain way, but insha'ALLAH, things will get better.

Facebook: Avoiding the Fitna

Assalamu Alaikum wa Warahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Today, I recieved an interesting message for a Muslim guy. I believe he may have me confused with another Muslima. He commented on me not having many or hardly any males on my friends' list. He added that this was a good thing..... this was a nice message, but I didn't know him nor did I add him to my friends' list. He did invite me to become friends with me earlier on, but I didn't say yes.

One thing that I try to do when I am on facebook is to AVOID THE FITNA.

When I say avoid the fitna, I mean I don't add men to my lists because I am not a scholar, imam, or a sheikh, thus it would not be smart of me to add men to my list if I do not plan on teaching.

Secondly, I do not have time to get IM's or messages or posts that is ridiculous.

Thirdly, I will delete females(all females on my list plus my brother) and I don't have a problem with that if the fitna arises.

I really do not have time for the fitna. Its something I learned from another sister. We don't have time to allow fitna into our lives.

Fitna is something so dangerous that I just try to avoid it....I have an interesting post up next.

I have watched this lecture a few times and its true. As Muslims we should be like strangers. We should be distinct. We should not try to be like others. We should share our knowledge of this beautiful religion of Al-Islam. So many things in this lecture is true. Its so true. It makes me think so much.

Are you the Muslim that keeps on his beard even when everyone around you think you are extreme? Are you the sister who wears her hijab, khimar, and niqab even when people have stopped being your friend? Do you stay home when parties are going on?

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the sake of ALLAHSWT but thats good because it shows HIM how we are faithful to Him, and it gives us a chance at better rewards. Our deen is very important. This deen is our lives. Its not part of it, or some part of us, but ALL of US.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO TAKE SHAHADA?

Taking shahada doesn't JUST mean just saying "La ilaha illah muhammad abduhu rasululah", but it goes further than just this.

CONDITIONS THAT NEED TO BE MET

1. Belief in what you said "There is no god, but ALLAH and Muhammad is his prophet and messenger".
2. Have Certainty and no doubt about these words
3. Belief in 6 Articles of faith (Belief in Allah alone, his prophets, his books, his angels, Day of Judgment, and Predestination)
4. Accepting the conditions
5. Submission to your LORD

When taking Shahada, the individual must believe in these conditions. They must accept everything that ALLAHSWT has put down in His Book and to accept the Sunnah and to obey Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Righteous is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it those who are the righteous. Al-Baqara verse 177 i.e. [2:177]

Becoming a Muslim means leaving your Kaffir husband and marrying a Muslim man. This is a fundamental part of becoming a muslim. You must go along with the rules and legislation of ALLAHSWT.

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah – who believe in the unseen, establish prayers and spend out of what We have provided them … Al-Baqarah verses 2 -3 [2:2-3]

Before taking shahada, you must know the conditions and fulfill them.

"Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relative, orphans and the needy. And speak to people good words and establish prayer and give zakah." Al-Baqarah verse 83 i.e. [2:83]

Taking Shahada changes your life for the better, insha'ALLAH. Accepting the ways of ALLAHSWT will change you...for it has changed me...masha'ALLAH!!

HOW TO BE A GOOD MUSLIM

Assalamu Alaikum,

I believe this verse has always accompanied a special place in my heart. I've read it in the Qur'an, and inside of a book.

Qur'an 2:177
It is not righteousness That ye turn your faces toward East or West;
But it is righteousness -
To believe in Allah (The One and Only God)
And the Last DayAnd the AngelsAnd the Book
And the Messengers;
To spend of your substance out of love for Him
For your kin
For orphans
For the needy
For the wayfarer
For those who ask,
And for the ransom of slaves;
To be steadfast in prayer
And practice regular charity;
To fulfil the contracts which ye have made;
And to be firm and patient in pain (or suffering) and adversity
And throughout all periods of panic.
Such are the people of truth the Allah-fearing (God-conscious).

This is beautiful. Whenever you pray salat and look towards the East, just remember that this doesn't make you a believer, but believing in His Book, the Angels, the prophets, the message, the Day of Judgment, and etc. does. When you do anything for AllahSWT then you are most righteous. When you give charity and pray consistently in hope of reaching his rewards and fighting through the tough times, then masha'ALLAH then you are MOST righteous.

I believe this is very true. Many times in our lives we may go through some bad patches, but we must never forget about ALLAHSWT. We must always pray and make du'a.

We must stay firm during the times of darkness and adversity

We all go through tests and ALLAHSWT tells us this in His Book. We must stay firm in our belief because this is the way of the Righteous.

Ponder upon this verse and remember it whenever you forget about the "TRUE" believer.

Co-WIVES in ISLAM!!!

Assalamu Alaikum,

I was just reading a blog about this sister going through a polygamous marriage, and her husband not be just between his wives.

Subhan'ALLAH, its a right of the muslim men in Islam to take 1,2,3,4 wives if they wanted to, but he would have to treat them justly. He would have to provide and maintain for them. If the brother didn't, he would have to answer to God on the Day of Judgment..subhan'ALLAH.

I've heard many instances in which many sisters have gone through marriages with being a co-wife or having co-wives. Many times the brother doesn't provide, or does it for his nafs-lower self and desires.

I can't say that a brother can't have multiple wives because GOD allowed this for them.

This came about when many men during the time of the Prophet Muhammad(Sallalahu alayhe wassalam) went out to war, and many women were without providers, so men took up multiple wives to care for them, and provide for them.

Is it hard? I'm sure it is.

I am listening to the topic of "The Islamic Personality" by Laila Nasheeba.

The Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings be upon him) came to not only convey the message of Islam, but to teach manners to the people.

As Muslims, it is our duty to be distinct and well-mannered in our ways. Islam tells us to be mannerable people. We should not be distinct only in dress, but by our speech, our actions, and our ways.

Islam doesn't call us to be like the next person, or the person we live next to, but to be "distinct".

We should remember that Islam call us to be "just", "honest", "fair", "gentle", "soft", "humble", and etc.

As Muslims, our job isn't to be like our pop culture, but to be distinct. Our characters, our ways, our actions should be "distinct".

The Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings be upon him) said, "When you imitate a nation, then you become one of them".

So, its important to not be like the people around us, but to be like "Muslims" that have been sent the mannerisms of Islam.

As Muslims, we know that we all will have tests to overcome. We know that our ancestors have had tests, thus we will have tests. Don't act as if you're not going to have tests because you will.

Remember what the Prophet Muhammad said, "Islam came as something strange, and will return as something strange".

People may dislike you because you wear hijab, niqab, wear abaya, grow out your beard, don't party, don't smoke, don't drink, don't mix with the opposite sex, don't lie, don't steal, pray 5x a day, and etc. People will dislike you until you become like them. People will always hate you in some way. We must always remember that we are just passer-bys in this world and must only take what is neccessary because next stop will be the results of our test-HEAVEN OR HELL. Subhan'ALLAH!

As Muslims, our personalities should be "DISTINCT".

I am up right now listening to Qur'an, so alhumdulilah I am calm and at ease.

I believe Islam is really beautiful and its a calm and peaceful place in a loud and angry world.

Islam derives from the word "salam" which means peace...Masha'ALLAH.

Islam is this way of life that gives clarity to everything.

I couldn't imagine myself going back to the way of life in which I felt was without structure.

Islam gives you a sense of peace and calmness.

It just reminds me of how I put on the scarf each and every day and know that its one of the hardest things to do....but I do it for the Creator. Its hard. When majority of the women around you don't wear it...its like "OH MY GOSH, WHAT AM I DOING?". Sometimes we must remember that Islam started as something strange and will return as something strange.

I love the fact that whenever you see a sister or brother its like "Assalamu Alaikum". Its nice to hear that. It brings a sense of unity throughout the Ummah.

I don't know what else to say. When your life isn't in the best condition or when you're going through alot....Islam always give you a place to go. We all go through tests, but its up to us to decide how to take it. We can give up and fail our tests or we can be strong and get through it with minor cuts and bruises.

Getting Informed About Your Religion!!

I have learned alot of things within these few days. I have been going to SunnahFollowers.net for information about Islam.

As a new Muslima to Islam I know its important to learn about Islam from a good teacher and a knowledgable teacher.

This sister is very good at what she does. Sister Laila Nasheeba is really a great individual to go to when discussing the affairs of Islam.

I ask alot of questions and she answers them. She answers them straightforward and with keeness

I love this aspect of the sister.

As a Muslima, its important to know about ourselves. This is a great website to go to.

A Few Words of Wisdom

I've had a few interesting days. Days are winding down on my calendar. The days are more calmer and relaxing.

As Muslims, we should be careful in who we get our diin from...our knowledge. We shouldn't allow anyone to educate us.

We should be educated by scholars, islamic teachers, and professors.

I've learned this the correct way.

Don't allow your information to come soley from fatwa sites because some scholars aren't very good in what they teach.

Some scholars come from deviant and misguiding sects.

We Need A Ramadhan By Abu Uwaise

Assalamu Alaikum,

My muslima sister told me listen to a lecture by Abu Uwaise called, "We Need a Ramadhan".
I'm finally listening to it, and its really deep.
It really makes you think about how our behavior should do.
It speaks alot to me because its true.
"We haven't been given the certificate of Jannah", so we need to remember to be servants of Allah....this is a good line he says.

We Need A Ramadhan for the following reasons:
1. To correct ourselves...ihsan
2. To progress in our deen.
3. To read Qur'an
4. To help struggling relationships we may have
5. To pray more
6. To patch up some ill areas in our lives
7. To stop doing the haraam
and so many more

Our hearts should be focused on AllahSwt and on serving him. We should focus ourselves on the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth. We should rely on our Master and show Him our true dedication and love for Him.

WE need to read more hadith and Qur'an. We should listen to our qur'an tapes or cds and show rahma(mercy) to our friends and family members. We should hold close to the rope of Islam.

We should focus our attention from the haraam and to the halal.
We should strengthen our tawqa and study more.

We should implement more Islamic education in our lives. We should read more and study more. We should just do a Sunnah salaat or go to a tawjeed class. Or we should do dhikr and du'a. We should calm ourselves down with the sounds of the Qur'an.

I believe its very true that we should remember our point in living. Our purpose in this life is to Worship the Creator. We should remember RasullahSAW.

I hope this helped...because just thinking about this made me think a little more.

What does it mean to live your life According to the Qur'an and Sunnah?

My blog is intended on talking about the Qur'an and the Sunnah!!

Insha'Allah, I will begin talking about the meaning behind my blog.

The Sunnah is something very dear to me, and to many Muslims I could imagine.

When I came into Islam, I didn't know the rights of women, and didn't know quite to expect for a Muslima. I was really ignorant of the rights of women.

Also, as I grew to read alot of hadis...I began understand my freedom as a woman in Islam. I began to love reading about the lives of the sahabiyat(female companions of the ProphetSAW). I loved reading about their lives, and how they were so "independent".

I didn't really have anything to complain about.

As I began reading, I began understanding how Muslim Women are so lucky in having these rights which were granted so many years before Western women could even think about.

The Qur'an is something dear also. I love the Suras Rahman and Sura Mu'min. These may be my favorite beside Sura Ikhlass which I have memorized by heart...alhumdulilah.

I am really trying to keep myself on the diin because its very important. I believe that Muslims should always respect others in their faith, and to expect that from others. In understanding our diin, we should learn how to understand the meaning of being Muslim.

When we put our Lord as number one on our list then we are good...we can conquer the world like that.

Today, I have been on Youtube just looking at lectures, and its so many great ones out there. Alhumdulilah, its fabulous.

When I don't go to the mesjid then I can get up on my diin!!!

Alhumdulilah, this is most important for me and myself.

Yes, I may get off track sometimes, but alhumdulilah I keep in mind who is most important and that is ALLAH.

Subhan'ALLAH, we must put Islam first on our list and let everything else fall into place.

This issue is a HUGE one.

This is a major issue for so many Muslims, especially when they are young.

I know many young ladies who plan on getting married very young. Some choose to get married young, but there are some who parents arrange marriages for them.

What EXACTLY does marriage mean in Islam to a muslimah?

A marriage in Islam is one of love, respect, committment, understanding, and etc.

I'm only 17, and an elder sister at the mesjid asked me if I was married. I told her "no", and she said she was surprised that someone haven't proposed to me. She thought I was atleast 19 though. I told her I was going to college first. I was interested about the weddings that Muslims had, so there was a conversation about this. She said she would find me a husband, jokily.

Problem 1: Why does it seem that marriage for a muslimah is the main priority for her?

Problem 2: What happen to being educated? Its not like the life expectancy rate is so low that we would have to have kids young and get married.

Problem 3: What happened to me finding my own husband?

Now, to continue on...A Muslimah must know that it is not her job to be a servant at home. She is to not be pushed around and told what to do as if she is stupid, and ignorant. If your husband wants a servant, then insha'Allah, thats a better decision.

Also, your parents cannot force you to marry someone. Yes, they can help you find a husband, or even arrange a marriage for you, but they cannot force you to marry that person. My muslima friend told me how her parents were pretty much forcing her to marry this cousin, but she didn't want to. So, I told her it was her right to choose who she wanted to marry. This is the law of ALLAH.

Also, wake up!!! Your only choice in life is not just marriage. If you want to travel the world, then do so. If you want to go to college, then do so. If you want to be with your family, then be so. Your only option isn't marriage.

I find nothing wrong with marriage, but when a muslimah feel that this is the only option, then I believe its a problem for the Ummah. The mother of a child is their first teacher, first and foremost. She must be educated. I know a few sisters who are home-schooled by their moms, and masha'allah, its a beautiful thing to see.

My post is intended to help guide muslimahs into understanding that life is about choices, and your choice to marry shouldn't be the only option out there for you.

If you're looking for marriage as being a way to be sustained, then thats your right, but you also have the right to be educated.

Know your deen. Know yourself. Know your husband. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with God.

Trust your Lord!

How to be a Strong Muslimah?

Insha'Allah, I will begin wearing niqab. I feel that niqab is a better form of haya, or modesty. I think its an excellent way to live according to the Salaf-the 3 best generations of Muslims. I feel confident when I wear niqab. I talk about niqab alot, and I understand that its a big goal for me right now after college, of course. I love niqab and its beauty. This is my choice, and its a positive one. Its one that will, insha'Allah, strengthen my iman. I am most definite about wearing niqab because I have worn it once outside the house. Its an amazing feeling. Its a feeling that I do not regret having. Its just this feeling that is unbelievable. Yes, wearing hijab can be hard, but insha'Allah, its worth it. I do it for Allah and ALLAH alone. No one or nothing will get in the way of me wearing this beautiful piece of cloth. Insha'Allah, I will tell more details about my first day when I begin wearing it on a regular basis, insha'Allah.

Wear niqab isn't easy, but its worth it if your intention is in the right place.

Women In Islam is a topic that many universities, jobs, schools, circles, and individuals like to talk about.

The main reason behind my blog is to discuss the Women in Islam, and the earlier women of Islam.

Earlier women in Islam have been known for their piety, their modesty, their strength, and the equality that was seen between the men and women.

When I think of Islam, I look to the women who shaped Islam,but when I look to the lives of many Muslim women, I think that we have lost our way.

Women aren't supposed to be caged in their homes, and lonely. Women are supposed to be warriors, and mothers of the next generation.

Women in Islam are truly empowered to be what they are "individuals".

I can't tell you how many times I have thought to myself about the salaf-or the 3 generations of the Best Muslims, including the Women of the Ummah earlier in our development of Al-Islam.

Women are most powerful and great. These women represented "True Feminism".

Dating in Islam

Assalamu Alaikum,

Dating in Islam? Is this haraam or halal? Are we allowed to go out with that guy we like and kiss and hug and be merry?

The answer to this question is "No".

The answer is "no" because we know that Allah has made this forbidden to us as Muslims.

As Muslims we are supposed to lower our gaze and guard our modesty. We leave our love and beauty for our spouses in marriage.

When we prepare for marriage, insha'allah, then we may look "potential" spouses and have a sit-down once or a few times with a chaperone, or wali. This "wali" makes sure that there is no intimacy, no touching, no haraam things being done, and etc.

During our sitdown(s), we may ask questions about this person before we actually marry them.

This is the halal way of doing things.

Going out on friday nights to party and to go clubbing with our boyfriends isn't of Islam. A Muslim is supposed to be modest in what they do and leave all intimacy and closeness between the opposite sex for marriage.

Why give yourself away when you have all of your marriage to do so?

Islam guards us from lusts, from unwanted pregnancies that may slip when we aren't married, from heartache, and from making decisions when we aren't mature to make them.

Insha'allah, I hope that this is helpful for the muslima who may have fallen out of touch with the rules of Dating in Islam.

Where is your Iman?

Assalamu Alaikum,

At times, I used to find myself double-guessing my iman, or faith. I would see the fitna around me at school with the other girls and their way of dress. I would see the constant gossiping and would want to partake, but I would think to myself-I'm A MUSLIMA.

I would find myself easing up my sleeve a little bit, but would feel guilty because I know why I cover and conceal my beauty.

Maybe put on that hijab is sparkly here and there, but no...this isn't really hijab.

Maybe talk to the boys a little bit....no, this isn't very modest...especially if it has nothing to do with important things.

I find myself thinking things through alot now. I have people who may persuade me to dress more Western and to apply makeup to my face. These things are fine inside of the house.

Sometimes I would get Muslims wanting me to dress like everyone else or to do what everyone else does.

I just don't think so.

A sister once told me, "religion is serious". I think about this alot whenever I run into fitna because its true.

Its just a matter of who is willing to get tempted by the shaytan.

Trials and tribulations is a given because Allah is trying to test us. If we don't pass His tests then how do you expect a good result on the examination at the end?

Where is your iman? Where is your faith in Your Lord? Where are you going to be when the results come back?

Food for Thought

Assalamu Alaikum,

I was reading a story yesterday on Yahoo! about an old man who saw a fully-veiled woman in black. This woman would show up here and there and this man would chase her. When the time for salaat came, he would miss it because he would chase after this fully veiled woman. This woman caught his eye and he couldn't keep from her. So eventually he would follow her back to her home. When he arrived the sound for prayer came again, but he didn't listen to its call. The woman unveiled herself and she was old and creepy. This woman said, "Well, I'm here for you. You've been chasing me for so long. You have missed prayer for me. I'm the Dunya".

The moral of this story is simple: Don't follow blindly and this world is only an illusion. Do your duties as an individual now, and don't be foolish enough to believe that this world has anything good enough to give to you. This dunya is only an illusion for its lovers.

Like the phrase goes, "The dunya is paradise for the unbelievers and hell for the believers."

Fitna can be easily as being trouble, or strife. The dunya, or the world can be considered fitna. Fitna is apparent inside of the dunya. The dunya itself isn't a problem because many individuals are able to live within it without any problem, but the problem is how to understand how to live within it. Living for the dunya and living in the dunya are two separate things.

Living in the dunya is simply categorized as living within it for living purposes or etc.

Living for the dunya can be categorized as loving the dunya because of its luxuries, its wealth, its lusts, its pleasures, and etc.

The story isn't a new's story, but one of morality and virtue. You must know where you stand on grounds of if you're the one who loves this dunya, or chases after it.

Salaat is Important

Many people may believe that salaat is really dull and repetitive, but it isn't.

I love salaat because it makes me think to stop.

Being a Muslim and having to pray salaat 5x a day is great...alhumdulilah.

Sometimes school student and people who work believe that praying at their school or work site is something they would never imagine doing.

I was like that once, but its our duty to pray when its time

ON the Day of Judgment we are going to be judge 1st on our salats...make your SALAAT~~

Just pray and get it over with..don't doubt yourself..just do it.

Praying salaat is important.

I remember going to an Eid party and these two girls laughed at the fact that I said I pray 5x a day, and they had said...i sometimes do it and laughed. I didn't understand how that was funny. I take salaat very seriously. I make sure I make my salaat up if I miss it, but its never intentionally.

I see born-muslims doing this. I don't understand. You know since forever that praying is central to our faith.

I know that as a Muslim you have to be persistent in your duties, and to never allow someone to tell you that doing your duties is strange, or not wajib, mandatory!!!

Haya, or Modesty in Al-Islam

Haya, or modesty in Islam is a huge, huge topic for me. I believe its so important that we sometimes over look it. Haya means modesty in arabic. Prophet Muhammad said, "Haya is half of faith"...Without haya, then you're inclined to do whatever you like.

I am a big believer in modesty because it prevents you from committing many sins that you may otherwise do.

When you think of haya, you may think about the hijab, or niqab. Actually, I believe haya goes further than just his. Haya means being conscious of what you do and what you say. When you're out and about...you should be mindful of your speech and where you place your feet-metaphorically. Its the truth. Sometimes we're not mindful of what we do and how we do it.

This is just a huge subject, but insha'allah, I will break it down further.

Haya is the difference between you and the Jahiliya(time of ignorance).

The Jahiliya was a time in which haya, or modesty wasn't observed, but Allah brought us out of that and gave us the Qur'an and the Sunnah to guide us.

The Pagan Arabs committed the most lude acts, but Allah tell us in the Kitab to lower our gaze and to guard our modesty. When we're told that, we're told that for a reason. We're told to restrain ourselves from evil acts and to be persistent in following the haqq-the Truth.

In the Jahiliya, we forget about the Haqq, and we do things we shouldn't do because we forget about haya....

In the Qur'an and Sunnah, we're given Strict codes of ethics to abide by so we don't fall back into the Jahiliya!!

Insha'allah, I hope you remember to be modest, and mindful of what you say and do.

Pillars of Islam

Assalamu Alaikum,

Islam is a beautiful way of life and I wouldn't change it. In my job as a dai'yee, or a Muslima, I believe its wajib to educate others on Islam.

What are the 5 Pillars of this Din?

1. Declare the Shahada "This is no god, but Allah and Muhammad is his slave and messenger"
2. To Pray 5 times a day
3. To fast during Ramadan
4. To Give Charity or Zakat
5. To take Hajj, or the pilgrimage to Mekkah if you can financially!

Through these 5 essential pillars of Islam we will gain Iman, or faith in our Lord. We will begin to learn more and more about our Din. When we become further along in our din, our iman strengthens and we begin having Qur'an on our tongues. We begin to become the ghuraba-the stranger. We began to understand ourselves and our Lord.

The Importance of Education for Muslimas

Insha'allah, I will begin by discussing the importance of education for Muslimas, and then insha'allah, discuss the rights Muslimas are given in Islam.

Muslimas, it is vital and incumbent upon you to be educated in your din, or your faith and be educated in worldly affairs. Education can allow you to reach your goals and ambitions.

A sister once told me, "Its important for you to know your din, so someone doesn't pull the wool over your eyes!".

This is so important for young Muslimas to know especially. You must read your Qur'an and the Sunnah as if its the last thing you'll ever read. Have the Qur'an on your tongue and let it guide you throughout your life.

I see many sisters wanting to marry young and not know their Din. YOU MUST NOT get into a marriage if you don't know your din. How do you know the Brother will give you your rights if you don't know them?

Knowing our din is important. Insha'allah, I will begin telling you the rights of Muslim women in ISLAM.

Muslim Women are Given These:

Right to Inherit property
Right to choose her spouse
Right to keep her name in marriage
Right to be financially stable
Right to Divorce
Right to contract
Right to vote and speak her mind
Right to sexual satisfaction
Right to drive- Prophet Muhamamd(peace be upon him) told me to teach women to ride camels.
Right to birth a female child
Right to travel
Right to keep her own money
Right from defamation
Right to a dowry
Right to be treated as an equal to a man
Right to work
Right to Education

Insha'allah, I wish that any thing I mispoke about will be corrected by Allah. Insha'allah, sisters you need to read more about these rights and to memorize them and to understand them.

Masha'allah, there are many Muslimas that have written on these rights and have giving daa'wah about these rights.

Assalamu Alaikum to My Muslimas,

Eid Adha is on its way and there is plenty of planning to be doing! Insha'allah, this will be my second Eid-Adha! Eid-Adha is the Eid of Sacrifice with the emphasis on Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice to Allah(subhanahu wa ta'ala).

For Eid Fitr I celebrated with ease. I knew exactly what I was going to be wearing and I was going to celebrate with love and happiness. I had a plan and I indeed stuck to it. I woke up the morning of Eid, masha'allah, and cooked some sweets and laid out some drinks for the family. Masha'allah, I was feeling just alhumdulilah. I didn't know what to say. I wore my orange shalwar kameez with my rhinestones on it. I had a matching hijab to go with it and I was in the mood. It was a beautiful day, masha'allah! I saw a few of my friends at Eid Prayer and afterwards, I went to Eid breakfast.

All, I can say is Masha'allah for the two Eids. The Prophet Muhammad(sallalahu alaihe wasalaam) said, "In Islam, we have two celebrations and they are the two Eids".

I'm sure everyone have had a beautiful Eid with beautiful memories.
