POST OF THE DAY: DONT POST STUFF

Assalamu Alaikum,

A sister on Facebook told me something very sad.

We should not act as if we are teachers of knowledge if we didn't go to school to get a degree in Islam or Hadith.

End of story.

People go around posting up false information about Islam and especially hadis.

Muslims all over the world need to know that what they read off of a blog may not be ENTIRELY true.

Salam!

You really inspired me to write something about the issue myself. I wrote a little response and linked back to your post, I just wanted to say thanks.

  3. All the "information" on the internet can be very misleading and it's important to be careful and conscious of how much crap is on there.

And no, we shouldn't act as teachers in things we don't know. But I also think we don't need a degree in Islam to know certain things that people can benefit from. We need to be aware of what we know and what we don't know.

  4. i agree that bloggers cant pretend that they are like teachers of islam but not telling anything about islam? wondering that cos it would be the same as if some non-muslim comes to us in public place asking about islam and we dont answer. in that situation anyone could say something false too. just like in internet. i dont say that we should say something false. i mean that is dawah pointless if we are not scholars? how does internet dawah differs from live dawah? i havent read any blog that the blogger seemed like pretendeng to know everything about islam. but if it seemes like that then they should inform that they are just talking about their opinions and experiences and give links to good scholar sites and youtube videos. :)

  5. When blogging I try to post thing that I get from reliable sources. Unfortunately, if you search hard enough on the web you can find a ruling for just about anything... good or not.
